The Rage Cycle (Smith Myles)
Brenda Smith Myles' rage cycle aims to give teachers a basic understanding of the stages of a 'meltdown'. When school staff are aware of what triggers positive behaviour and what triggers a 'meltdown', they are better placed to avoid the rage cycle. This can be done by working together in a school team and consulting parents and the student.
It is important to note that schools that have clearly defined whole school rules, expectations and rewards for appropriate behaviour often see more positive behaviour as a result.
